The Department of Creative Services (My department) did not report directly to the Office of Marketing Communications. While we worked closely with them on many strategically important projects, departments across the university could work directly with us for any of their needs. There was a need to help staff understand our role in the university.
The goal was to create a publication that would show what services we offer, various projects we've done, our process and our experience in the creative field.
Department of Creative Services at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science
Fall 2014/Spring 2015
The cover is bold and dynamic and meant to depict just a hint of our photography studio, rather than a cliché image of computers or the office space. A dot with a thick white border is used as a pop-out detail which depicts a negative white space that interrupts the photo, and is used throughout the booklet as a why to lead the eye to the headlines.
The layout uses large photos and groups of images arranged in interesting grids that create a visually pleasing artistic arrangement for the reader to enjoy. On the second spread, we used our studio-shot group photo as a way to show our photo compositing and retouching skills. The book provides in-depth details about our department, services, projects, experiences and accomplishments.
I wrote the entire content and handled the design and layout personally. This was distributed to all of the university departments and handed out when staff met with any of my team to discuss new projects.
